This city was first founded by Duke Berthold V in 1191, and based on the legends, it was named after a bear that the Duke spotted during a hunt. Later on, Bern quickly became an important spot in this region and one of the leading cities in Switzerland. Moreover, the official language of this city is German; however, French and English are widely spoken as well.
