The capital city of Italy is Rome. This city was chosen as the capital along with the reunification of Italy in the 19th century. Rome is well-known worldwide for its rich history, amazing archaeological sites, mouthwatering cuisine, and gorgeous parks, such as the Colosseum. This ancient amphitheater is an iconic symbol of this city and a wonderful place to visit. The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are two places that you cannot miss out on. First, the Vatican Museums house a large number of collections of art and historical artifacts, and the Sistine Chapel is the iconic, world-famous ceiling, which was painted by Michelangelo from 1508 to 1512. However, visiting Piazza Navona is a must, as this is a picturesque square with historical buildings and Bernini‘s well-known Fountain of the Four Rivers. Of course, Italian dishes are too good to miss, including Pizza (Margherita and Napolitana), Pasta (Spaghetti Carbonara, Lasagna, and Pesto Pasta), Risotto (Risotto alla Milanese and Seafood Risotto), Tiramisu, and Gelato.
