Iran, a country located in the Middle East/West Asia, is officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran and is well-known for its art, architecture, and literature. However, in 1930 Reza Shah changed the name permanently from Persia to Iran, as it was previously and widely used by the people. Even though Iran was finally reunified by the Safavid Empire as an independent region in 1501, it was in 1979 The Islamic Republic of Iran was established by Khomeini, who was the first supreme leader in Iran. This country had some of the most powerful and notable empires in the world, including the Achaemenid Empire, which lasted over 200 years and was one of the largest empires in history, the Sassanid Empire, which lasted over 400 years and this period was marked by the contributions in science, architecture, and art, and the Safavid Empire, this empire completely reshaped Iran’s identity and made Islam the country’s main religion.

Complex designs, special care for details, calligraphy, and metalworking can be seen in almost everything that you can see such as carpets, buildings, furniture, and even clothing. That is not all, poetry holds a very special place in the Iranians’ hearts, it is a vital tradition, and some of the well-known poets are Rumi, Hafez, and Ferdawosi, whose works are cherished and celebrated. Furthermore, using fresh ingredients and spices are very essential when it comes to Iranian cuisine and some of their most renowned dishes are Chelo Kabab, Chormeh Sabzi, Fesenjan, Tahdig, and Ash Reshteh.

Tehran is the capital city of Iran, the name ‘Tehran’ translates to “warm mountain slope”, and the meaning is the reflection of the geographical aspect of the city, more specifically the Alborz Mountain Range. This city is mostly remarkable for its historical attractions such as the Golestan Palace, where you can see Persian art, architecture, mirror artwork, and calligraphy.
