Latvia is a country located in the Baltic region of northern Europe and is officially renowned as the Republic of Latvia. This country shares borders with Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, and Belarus. Even though this land had been occupied by many other forces, such as the German Crusades, Polish Rule, Swedish Rule, and Russian Empire, this region after World War I announced independence on 1918; however, during World War II it was once again conquered by Nazi Germany and then the Soviet Union. Latvia stayed as a part of the Soviet Union until 1991, when it regained independence. As a result of its continuous infrastructure and economic development, Latvia has emerged as a dynamic global player, alongside joining the NATO and European Union in 2004. Latvian history has played a great role in shaping the culture, especially German, Russian, and Scandinavian, which have made a great impact on Latvian culture; this includes traditions, cuisine, art, and music. 

Riga is the capital city of Latvia. This amazing city is a mixture of modern advancement and historical charm. It became the capital with the first announcement of independence in 1918, and since then it has turned into one of the most symbolic places in this country. This city has so many things to offer to its visitors, such as the Old Town.
